Designer Ink, Inc began with a series of events that led to a profitable business today.  Owner Karen Russo retired from the hospitality business to be a stay at home mom to her 2 children. Shortly after her first born's birth, her daughter was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, followed by her second child, also diagnosed with the same devastating disease. It was with this new path in life that brought Karen into a world of fundraising for a cure. She worked for many years with family and friends to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Families of SMA. Through this effort, she realized a passion for creating printed materials. She ventured out into the corporate print world for 5 years to learn  first hand all she could and took creative classes through IUPUI/Ivy Tech in early 2000. This new knowledge allowed Karen to open her own company while still being an at-home mom.
